Our guides in Bulgaria found this incredibly tame pair of nesting Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers which had made their nest six feet up in a gate  at a garden centre.  No need for a hide, in fact all five of us could stand nearby and take our pictures.  For this one, I pre-focused on nest entrance and hit the shutter as the bird appeared at the nest hole and took a sequence of 15 shots.  Very many failures.  EOS 1D4, 500mm, ISO 1250, minus 2/3 stop, 1/3200th at F7.1.
